Help! bestest friend and guy issues all mixed into one!!!!! i need answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

ok, so this guy i have had a crush on for three years, just texted me the other day that he likes my best friend AND ex- best friend(we arent friends anymore cuz she has quite frankly turned into a total and im not friends with those kinds of people). im not mad at my best friend, but i want to rip his head off cuz he normally isnt that perverted, hes really smart, and idk why all of the sudden he would take intrest in my ex - best friend. hes knows that i like him and u cant tell if he is bluffing just to make me mad or what. i guess my real question is, is a total mistake to cut off our friendship and any possabilities of future relationships, or is it the right thing to do? all opinions welcome, but nothing perverted plz.
