Why do people feel Uruguay somehow cheated?

In basketball, if a guy has a wide open lay up to win the game, you grab him so he has to win it at the free throw line. Why is it different here. Suarez got a red card, Ghana choked on the PK, Uruguay came through in the clutch. I don't understand how there is remote controversy over this issue.
